I love playing with numbers. I enjoy making beautiful, useful, and fun (sometimes funny) stuff particularly with cultural and personal data. With strong Human-Computer interaction research and design skills, what I make is not single infographics but data-driven products enabling exploratory data analytics and/or storytelling. Crossing borders of web development, UX/UI design, and data science, I am a versatile professional who can research, code, and design in a collaborative R&D environment.
Currently I am a data visualization designer at Facebook. Previously I worked at Yahoo as a senior design prototyper and Nokia as a senior data visualization scientist, all in San Francisco Bay Area. I earned Ph.D in Digital Media from Georgia Tech; my dissertation was about the rhetoric and aesthetics of visualization as a data-based cultural interface. Before I studied Industrial Design at KAIST, Korea.
Besides data visualization, I love swimming.
I love going to museums too.
